SAN ANTONIO, Texas, June 10, 2020 – San Antonio-based Carenet Health, a leading provider of healthcare engagement and 24/7 telehealth solutions, has received notice that its nurse advice triage center has again been fully certified by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
The certification falls under the NCQA Health Information Products (HIP) category for a Health Information Line. Carenet has achieved this NCQA certification consecutively since 2010.
NCQA is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving healthcare quality, and its Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) is the most widely used performance measurement tool in healthcare.
The NCQA HIP certification involves a rigorous quality review process that assessed Carenet’s ability to develop and provide content, tools and services that help consumers make better healthcare choices. Only 15 other organizations are listed as achieving this certification as of today’s date.
Carenet Health’s CEO John Erwin said the re-certification is especially important as the role of around-the-clock, telehealth-based nurse advice has been critical to the nation’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As health systems and provider practices were overburdened and understaffed this spring, Carenet registered nurses provided a lifeline to individuals who needed assessment of their symptoms and answers to virus-related questions—any time, day or night,” Erwin said. “As always, our virtual care clinical team stepped up to provide up-to-date information and deliver evidence-based care options, including at-home treatment recommendations when possible.”
The use of telehealth has skyrocketed recently, which has been especially credited with keeping vulnerable populations safely at home and out of doctors’ offices, urgent care centers and hospital emergency departments.
