ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico, December 19, 2018 — Texas-based Carenet Healthcare Services, a leading provider of healthcare engagement services and 24/7 virtual care, announced today the opening of its newest location in downtown Albuquerque.
Carenet worked closely with Albuquerque Economic Development and the organization’s president, Gary Tonjes, to make the company’s expansion a reality in New Mexico. The move brings new full-time healthcare jobs to the area, including registered nurses, care coordinators and engagement specialists.
The organization’s expansion brings an estimated $6 million or more in annual payroll to the area. Carenet has already invested $1.5 million in its downtown facility, which is located at 303 Roma Avenue NW, and has signed a 10-year lease.
John Erwin, CEO of Carenet, said it’s been exciting to watch the opening of the New Mexico location become a reality over the past few months. “The downtown area, and Albuquerque as a whole, represent a vibrant, diverse community. The culture and the people are special, and we’re truly proud to be a part of that.”
Mick Mazour, Carenet president, also believes the city is a great fit for Carenet. “Healthcare today needs innovation in areas like virtual care and the kind of consumer experience that industries outside of healthcare provide every day. Our Albuquerque location will play an important role in helping us meet those needs,” Mazour said.
Erwin and Mazour said they were also appreciative of the help of the many state, county and local officials who worked to make the opening of our new location a success, including New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez and Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller.
