A New Chapter of Leadership at Carenet: Mick Mazour to Retire as President, Succeeded by Christopher Rogers

Today, we are announcing a significant evolution of Carenet Health’s executive team. After a decade of transformative leadership, Mick Mazour will be retiring from his role as President at the end of the year, with Christopher Rogers succeeding him as President.

This transition is a natural evolution, shaped by years of growth and a shared vision for Carenet’s bright future in support of America’s leading healthcare companies.

A Decade of Transformational Growth

Mazour has been instrumental in Carenet’s evolution from 700 employees to 3200+ team members partnering with the nation’s leading payers, providers, and health services organizations. His leadership established the structure, discipline, and strategic clarity that define Carenet today.

“Mick has been a phenomenal leader, partner, and, most importantly, a friend,” said John Erwin, CEO of Carenet. “We’ve known each other for more than half our lives. We think differently and approach situations from different angles, but we always respected those differences and 99% of the time, arrived at the same conclusion.”

“The rest of the time, John wins,” Mazour joked.

When Mazour joined Erwin at Carenet in 2017, the company was at a pivotal juncture. Early in both technology capabilities and solution offerings, Carenet invested significantly to mature and differentiate to achieve sustainable enterprise growth. Mazour partnered with Erwin to bring structure, clarity, and discipline to the entrepreneurial organization, transforming it into the tech-led enterprise it is today.

Under Mazour’s leadership, Carenet executed six strategic acquisitions that expanded the company’s solution portfolio, broadened its vertical footprint, and enhanced its global delivery model.

He significantly matured the leadership team, adding valuable expertise from within and beyond healthcare. Recognizing the changing nature of work, Mazour led the company’s transition from 100% on-site operations from its headquarters in San Antonio, to a remote organization with several service delivery centers around the world, enabling Carenet to attract top talent regardless of geography.

Erwin and Mazour also accelerated investment in Carenet’s technology platform, positioning the company as an early adopter of cloud and AI technologies. During his tenure, he has expanded Carenet’s global delivery capabilities to include nearshore and farshore facilities in the Philippines, Trinidad & Tobago, and El Salvador—delivering significant savings and value to clients.

Leadership Rooted in Purpose and Passion

Reflecting on his decade as President, Mazour expressed pride in the company’s journey.

“I’ve loved watching us grow – not just financially, but for the benefit of our clients and employees,” he said. “We are a unique team of professionals enhanced by technology, and that will never change. It has been a joy to watch our people showcase their abilities and grow personally.”

One defining moment during Mazour’s tenure was Carenet’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Our team members worked around the clock without complaint because they understood how important our role was,” Mazour recalled. “While companies across the country were downsizing, we were hiring. It was a testament to our purpose and passion.”

When asked about the lessons learned during his time at Carenet, Mazour emphasized continuous learning and authenticity. “Invest in yourself, keep learning,” he advised. “Be yourself. Know what you know and know what you don’t. Hire talented people and let them run.”

Mazour’s response to what drives him perfectly encapsulates his leadership philosophy and personal values:

“Leadership can be as complex as you want. Pick your style and drive it home. I want to help the company win and, in doing so, witness team members being recognized ‘on stage’ for all their contributions. I love being in the audience and simply watching success being enjoyed!

“Sidenote: there is never a time that I won’t pick up a penny when I see it lying in the street. To me, that continues to acknowledge my awareness of importance,” he continued. “The minute I feel I am too ‘worthy’ to pick up the penny is the minute I have changed my level of importance.”

This perspective reflects not just humility but an unwavering commitment to teamwork, service, and grounded leadership. Mazour’s ability to celebrate the success of others while maintaining a sharp sense of self-awareness highlights his exceptional approach to guiding the organization forward.

Continuing Impact Through Advisory Leadership

As Mazour retires as President in 2026, he will assume an executive advisory role. In this capacity, he will provide ongoing strategic guidance on future offerings, long-term planning, and the formation of an Executive Advisory Board.

“As long as I feel I’m providing valuable insight, direction, and, to some degree, challenge, I’ll stay engaged,” Mazour noted.

His advice to his successor is straightforward: “Focus on talent, focus on our North Star, and focus on driving solutions that have value. We need to stretch ourselves!”

Christopher Rogers with Mick Mazour

Rogers Poised to Build on Strong Foundation

Christopher Rogers steps into the role of President with a deep understanding of Carenet’s operations and strategic vision. As Chief Operating Officer, Rogers has been integral to the company’s operational excellence and growth initiatives.

Since joining Carenet in early 2022, Rogers has been instrumental in advancing the company’s operational capabilities and technological infrastructure. He originally came aboard as EVP of Client Operations, bringing more than 20 years of international expertise in service delivery, customer care, and acquisition integration across healthcare, financial services, communications, and technology sectors. His promotion to Chief Operating Officer later that year reflected his immediate impact on the organization’s strategic direction.

As COO, Rogers has played a pivotal role in maturing Carenet’s technology leadership, spearheading the adoption of cloud-based solutions and AI-driven capabilities that position the company at the forefront of healthcare innovation. He has strengthened the company’s service delivery model by enhancing global operations, integrating advanced security protocols, and building a more agile, scalable infrastructure capable of meeting the evolving needs of premier healthcare organizations. His leadership has been critical in unifying operations, client services, and technology functions—creating a more cohesive and responsive organization.

A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Rogers has also served on prestigious executive advisory boards, including the Forbes Technology Council, bringing valuable industry perspective to his role at Carenet.

In his new position, he will continue to oversee business operations while driving Carenet’s next phase of innovation and expansion.

“I’m deeply honored to step into this role and recognize the significant responsibility that comes with it. Mick has set an exceptional standard of leadership,” said Rogers. “Having just returned from HLTH 2025 with many of our team members and healthcare leaders, I’m inspired by the innovation happening across our industry and excited about what lies ahead for Carenet and our clients.”

Looking Ahead

This leadership transition ensures continuity while positioning Carenet to continue moving “upstream” in the healthcare ecosystem—delivering more valuable, integrated solutions that drive meaningful business and health outcomes for clients.

As Mazour looks toward the future, his hope is that Carenet continues to help clients transform patient, member, and staff experiences while solving complex healthcare business challenges. “This will come through quality service, measurable ROI, and good old-fashioned grit,” he said.
